HOME FAMILY YESTERDAY SOLVAY STARSTRUCK MIXED BAG

There was no date on this letter, which surfaced during what became know as The Case of the Shooting Show Girls. It was written to Lillian Graham, probably in 1907 while W. E. D. Stokes was in Chicago. It is a letter that will haunt him for the rest of his life, but particularly during his divorce trials when the nickname that resulted from the first line of the letter gained new prominence, thanks to newspaper writers.

Interesting how Stokes immediately set his sights on a 21-year-old, hoping she already had all the matrimonial experience she wants out of life. Well, a man can dream.
