On the job

Under the heading, "Familiar Faces at Syracuse," the October 1945 issue of Solvay Safety News featured this photo and this caption: "John Lamanna of the Waste Bed gang was snapped at the east gate by the plant camera man. Johnny is a good, safe worker and is, at the moment, on his way to lunch."

Also in the same issue of the Solvay Safety News (October 1945) was this photo. "Over at the Power, we found Frank Glisson and some of his merry men. Left to right: Jim Riley, Harold Larkin, Bert Larkin, Frank Glisson, Bill Williams and Marsden Kenyon. An able crew, this, and 100 percent for safety."

William A. Smolinski, right, general foreman, poses with Joseph J. Lawton, superintendent of the Solvay plant of the Semet-Solvay division, for this photo of a new safety sign. The picture appeared in the June 1953 issue of Solvay News.
