THE
MAJORS TAKE A STAND FOR ICE CREAM. This photo postcard
sent to Buster Major in 1964 by his Aunt Liz) identifies this as the
Major's ice cream stand at the New York State Fair (1912 or 1913). Maggie
and Lola Major are on the left, with Irene in Indian
headdress in the middle. Buster's also in an Indian outfit and
is eating a cone (a familiar scene throughout Buster's life). Rose
Major is behind the counter, with son Billy, in what looks
to be a Boy Scout uniform. The man behind the counter could be John
Hagan, listed on the sign as the proprietor.
