If the Solvay Process rock pile on Milton Avenue was Solvay's most famous landmark, the World War I cannon at the Veterans Memorial in Woods Road Park was the biggest draw for kids. Jack Major sits on the cannon, also popular with his children during Solvay visits 30 years later. The white house in the background belonged to Peter and Wanda (Smolinski) Kaldowski.
