From the Syracuse Post-Standard:

Margaret Major Nicholson, 90, of 148 Spaulding Ave. died March 13, 1987 at Loretto Geriatric Center. A native of Skaneateles, Mrs. Nicholson was a life resident of the Syracuse area. She retired 25 years ago from Pass & Seymour.

Surviving are a daughter, Kathleen Mullally of Syracuse; six grandchildren, Michael of Pompano Beach, Fla., Karen Smyth of Duncannon, Pa., Patricia Knopp of LaFayette and Kathleen, Eileen and Maureen Mullally, all of Syracuse; and five great-grandchildren.

Known to all as Maggie, she is shown above in a 1940 photo with her daughter Kathleen (Mullally Johnson) in the foreground, two-year-old Jack Major and Rose McLaughlin Major. Location of the photo is uncertain, though it may have been the cemetery where John W. Major is buried.

Maggie gets a hug from brother Buster, probably around 1917. Why? Perhaps he got word he wouldn't have to wear those knickers anymore.
